Building on the success of the Teeling 24 Year Old (Best Single Malt 2019 WWA) and Teeling 28 Year Old (Best Single Malt 2021 WWA) Teeling are delighted to announce the newest in the collection Teeling 30 Year Old Single Malt. This exciting whiskey was first distilled in 1991 and matured in Bourbon casks then allowed marry in Sauternes wine casks. 4000 bottles released.
On the nose, it is very aromatic, with pronounced notes of peach and dried apricot, along with candied orange zest. There is a hint of smoke, accompanied by herbal notes and well-seasoned oak wood aromas, along with caramel, a hint of licorice and a savory/sea air element. As the whiskey opens up, a distinctive note of cooked grain emerges.
On the palate, there is a distinctive milk chocolate note, along with flavors of apple, pear, peach and apricot, and a hint of tropical fruit. There is a persistent salted caramel note, along with roasted nuts, tropical spices and a touch of marzipan. There is also an ever so slight medicinal note.
The whiskey is smooth and oily, with a pronounced, mouth coating palate weight.
The finish is exceptionally long, with lingering notes of sweet, dried fruit, seasoned oak, wood spices and salted caramel.
This is an exceptional whiskey. It offers up a classic Irish single malt profile, with nuanced layers of dried fruits, cinnamon and a touch of clove, along with well-integrated oak and the intriguing, salted caramel notes. Smooth, flavorful and complex. What else could you ask for from a whiskey?
